The Johannesburg-Gauteng Government has lost more than 6 million taxpayers’ money after authorities processed electronic payments in the wrong currency.

Treasury MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko confirmed the failure by answering a question asked by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Congress on Tuesday.

MEC claimed that the transaction was in error and began investigating.

DA was said to have paid Microsoft Ireland $ 20 million instead of $ 20 million for the finance and e-government sector.

Adriana Randall, a DA member of the state legislature, said millions lost could have purchased approximately 48,046 Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines or otherwise helped people. ..

The party welcomed an investigation into this issue.
