Islamabad: To provide government officials with a secure and seamless communication platform, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications has developed a digital messaging app named “Beep Pakistan”.

The development was a secure communication between government functions after it was revealed that Israeli surveillance software had targeted more than 50,000 people by client governments in various countries hostile to journalists, activists and political opponents. It was done as the channel was sought.

In a tweet, Syed Aminul Haq, Minister of Information Technology and Communications, said the app initially provided secure chat and voice calling capabilities, and video calling capabilities will soon be available in the app.

He argued that the app aims to provide a secure communication platform for government officials.

According to the IT Telecom Ministry, the “Beep Pakistan” app is being tested in-house and the platform will be officially released within a few months. All civil servants are required to use the app for public purposes.

Israeli spyware

It is mentioned here that India targeted the phone previously used by Prime Minister Imran Khan through a malware called Pegasus, an Israeli company.

As reported by the independent Israeli publication Haaretz, several Pakistani officials, Kashmiris free fighters, Indian parliamentary leader Rahul Gandhi, and even judges of the Indian Supreme Court have been targeted. Said the publication.

Sources informed Geonews that India had attempted to steal federal cabinet members’ phones and messages through spyware and urged Pakistan to develop new software for the federal minister.

Following development, a high-level meeting of civil and military leaders was convened to determine future course of action for Indian espionage attempts.
