Springfield, IL. (ECWd) –
On July 30, 2021, Illinois Attorney General Raoul issued a press release warning the public of of spoofed emails allegedly coming from his office.
In the press release, he states: “The Attorney General’s office is not using the atg.state.il.us domain name and is not sending these emails, and clicking on any links will install malware that could steal sensitive data…“
However, when searching for contact information for the Press Secretary, their own website still points to an email address at the atg.state.il.us domain:
Furthermore, he stated: “The Attorney General’s office will not send emails from an atg.state.il.us domain…” when he should have stated they will “no longer” send emails from that domain. It is well known they have in the past, prior to getting hacked.
