Scammers are trying to take advantage of the turmoil and stress surrounding the national peasant eviction moratorium ending October 3.
The BBB urges consumers to reconfirm government programs before signing up.
-Look closely at their website and make sure it’s legal. Links usually require a dotgov or dotorg domain.
-Don’t pay for “free” government grants or programs. If there is a fee, it is not free.
-In general, government agencies do not contact you claiming to give you money, so beware of sudden phone calls, emails or text messages claiming to be from the government.
