Paris, IL. (ECWd) –

Scott Barrett, Director of the Edgar County Housing Authority, informed us today that the Illinois State Treasurer’s office sent the ECHA a check for their unclaimed funds listed in the Treasurer’s unclaimed funds database.

After we notified him of the ECHA’s name being in the database, Barrett confirmed the ECHA was listed in the database as the owner of unclaimed funds, submitted the simple claim form, and about 10 days later the check arrived in the mail.

He said it was for an extended warrantee on appliances purchased from a company who later went out of business.

Individuals, businesses, and public bodies are listed in this database and can claim the funds due them with a simple 2-step process:

  1. Prove who you are,
  2. Wait for the check

The State Treasurer’s iCash website is: https://icash.illinoistreasurer.gov/

Once there, simply input a name, and see if there are any funds held.

If there are, fill out the form and wait about 7 – 10 days for the check to arrive.

As an example, we searched for “Edgar County” and came up with a list of several county offices with money being held by the State – click HERE to see a partial list for the Edgar County Treasurer, Courthouse, Recorder, Clerk, Sheriff’s Department, Circuit Clerk, etc…. They are listed either as under $100 or over $100.
