Hutsonville, Illinois (WTWO / WAWV) — Hutsonville Community Unity School District # 1 in Illinois is currently under probation for violating Governor JB Pritzker’s state-wide school mask obligations.

“No matter how long we talk or communicate, whether it’s the Governor’s Office or the Illinois State Board of Education, it doesn’t seem to matter to us.” Kramer said.

The breach could cause the school district to lose state approval, which means a loss of funds from Illinois. Students are also not allowed to play state-sponsored sports.

“Our children can’t participate in the state series because of the potential loss of state aid, all of which has been discussed and is a concern,” Kramer said. “But after all, there can be a big picture or something more important.”

According to Kraemer, the district is backed by many parents, who continue to be informed about the district’s masking stance during the school board meeting.

“We have parents who have appeared,” Kramer said. “The majority of parents who appear are for their choice, especially we hear over and over again.” We are tired of co-parenting with government and state agencies. We are their parents and we know what is best for them. “

Kramer said the school district and its parents and students felt overlooked and believed that Pritzker had bypassed the municipality to make the decision.

“Now we have a duty to constantly lose local control and they are trying to push us down, and it’s important that it happens, stop and support it,” Kramer said.

Hatsonville CUSD # 1 continues to defy Pritzker’s mission because it does not require masking students or faculty, but Kramer says it complies with frequent testing requirements for unvaccinated employees. Said.
